#16 - Fugazi - Repeater - 1990

I was 16 when I saw Fugazi at 328 Performance Hall in Nashville. That was an event; everyone I knew (who was punk or alternative) was going. I arrived wearing a tshirt, blue jeans, and combat boots. By the time it was over I had no shirt and one leg remaining on those jeans (and the boots of course). That night was transforming. There was so much built up angst in that room. We wanted answers and we wanted them NOW, so we pushed and shoved, kicked and stomped, and sang along with Fugazi. This is what anti-establishment was/is all about. "You are not what you own!" To this day, when I question my place in the world, I turn to Repeater and swear I won't be controlled by someone elses idea of the American Dream (nevermind my 2300square foot house, 2 cars, and Pier One/Pottery Barn furnishings.
