#15 - Smashing Pumpkins - Gish - 1991

I remember telling my friends in high school that these guys were the next Jane's Addiction. Little did I know at the time that Billy Corgan would eventually make this band a staple of mainstream rock. Gish arrived only months before Nirvana's Nevermind (both produced by Butch Vig). Even Corgan's terrible lyric writing couldn't drag Gish down. Don't look to connect here, just enjoy the shear bliss of fuzzed out electric guitars. I was never a fan of their work post Siamese Dream, but for 2 albums Smashing Pumpkins rocked hard.

i wasn't alternative enough to buy gish before siamese dream, but i still enjoyed both very much. thanks for being my cool alternative friend, chad--i just wish i had the courage to tell you 15 years ago when it really mattered.
