#18 - Jane's Addiction - Nothings Shocking - 1988

Thinking about this album in it's heyday makes me think of the good ole days (yet again), when something could really grab you as different. Nothings Shocking was the original metal-alt/rock. Maybe it was the "parental advisory" sticker on the cd, maybe it was the album cover itself, maybe it was the album title, or maybe, just maybe we were seeing genius at work at it's peak. They gave us just two studio albums, but Jane's Addiction, if but for a short time, felt like the greatest band on the planet. And yeah, I had this album cover on a tshirt. I still can't believe my mom let me out of the house in it...it eventually disappeared from my dresser. On a side note: I came back to this album for long summer in the late 90's while living on Seabrook Island, SC. I'd listen to it while on my way to Folley Beach to surf with the boys: the songs Up The Beach, Ocean Size and Summertime Rolls were essential on those days.
Key Tracks: Ocean Size, Jane Says, Mountain Song, Pigs in Zen

Unfortunately, I can't find any live footage or video footage of the band that doesn't include naked women on stage.
